I don't get why people constantly dismiss HB because it has an AI element.

It's still in the end, 2 human players commanding a team of AI against each other. Equal odds, both players being tested, their performance is still all in their control.

Sure I don't play HBs but I can still see why it's a choice of PvP.

This is probably the 8th time this year that it's been double hero battle weekend. Not my thang.

Going on vacation for 2 weeks anyway :P

Flaws in the games design mean that in higher-level play, few if any kills happen, and it becomes a matter of who can shadowstep the most instead of running from shrine to shrine. Also, the more you win, the faster you realize this because all your opponents cap shrines and don't stop. There's no real penalty for having a team of four Mo/A, heal balling and Return/Recall/Shadow Meld everywhere. Snares are ineffective for the same reason. Who cares if you're crippled, if you're half a stage away from anything that could hurt you.

The AI has gotten better, but capping shrines need less clout.

Crap, I'm forced on family vacation and miss Wintersday in July, and then I come back for this. I feel violated.

As a PvE mainly player, I'll at least jump over for some PvP on most of the double weekends. Never for HB, though.

Make the first version of the Grenth Avatar available in HB? :P JK

Yeah the shadow stepping annoyance I can see the effect of in HB. Mostly the abuse of it by /A's. Unless Anet changes the rules on shadowstepping for non-primaries I don't see it changing, it's just a stupidly powerful ability for monks to get their paws on.

I was unaware that a weekend where 90% of the GW playerbase massacred raptors for alcohol and fruitcakes was a pvp weekend.

Oh, right

The people still playing HB don't want double rewards, they want updates to the broken mechanics and AI bugfixes...

Snares are very effective in HB, if shadowstepping and instagib sins were to be nerfed then defensive cripshot rangers and Icy Shackles ele's would completely dominate the metagame. You just need to get to shrines faster than your opponent, it doesn't matter if you use snares or shadowsteps (or both) to achieve that.

Or dump the friggin shrines altogether. Pre-HB I always hoped anet would come up with a basic 1 on 1 death match arena. I still think that would be lots more fun, even with 3 heroes like now, just no shrines and points for kills only.

You'd think PvP and PvE players could for once unite around a weekend neither of them care about.
